To Racing through Barcelona

To say that we raced through Barcelona is definitely an understatement.  My parents arrived with enough time to nap and walk around before Annie and I got there Tuesday evening.  The plane rides went smoothly and the drive into Barcelona was exciting and beautiful.  The first night we got there we walked around and had paella and gelato! Yum! The architecture in Barcelona was incredible, all of the buildings were unique, and the people could not have been nicer.  The hotel that we stayed in was really nice and it was the perfect warm-up to our European adventure.

Breakfast! Fresh squeezed orange juice and a
chocolate covered croissant.

The second day was action packed to say the least.  I think we walked the most that day that we did the entire trip, at least 12 miles.  We started off in line at La Sagrada Familia, although the line was annoying we met a really cool couple from New Zealand to pass the time.

La Sagrada Familia

We saw this really cool traffic circle statue
on our walk to La Sagrada Familia.

This is a picture of La Sagrada Familia.  It is still under construction and not expected to be completed until 2026, 100 years after Gaudi passed away.  It is a Gaudi designed Basilica and has been under construction since 1852.  It was absolutely incredible to see.

Here is a picture of the inside, and you can see below, the stained glass windows were immaculate.

The sculptures and design on the back were really intricate and incredibly cool.

View of Barcelona from Montjuic Castle

Dad standing in front of an art museum that we stumbled upon.  It was beautiful.

Mom standing in front of what used to be the moat at Montjuic Castle.  It is now gardens.

Taking the tram to get down the mountain.  Dad was making snarky comments, shocking.

We walked to the Olympic Stadium from the 1992 Barcelona Games.  It was really cool.

Outside of the Olympic Stadium they had a "walk of fame" for athletes that participated.  Dad put his Jordans on Jordan's foot.
We had a really long, but great day that ended with a wonderful tapas dinner.  Barcelona was incredible, I cannot wait to go back!

For now,
Lindsay
